Ah, The Lich King - Were You Expecting Someone Taller?

My group has met the Lich King!
We finally beat the guardian dragon Sindragosa and have begun our battle with the final boss.
This encounter has three main phases with a transition phase between each.
We have mastered the first phase now, and we've learned how to make a smooth transition into phase two. We ran out of time last week, but we will start the Icecrown Citadel raid from the beginning again this week. We will have to kill eleven bosses again to reach the Lich King and continue our battle.

May Your Blades Never Dull - The Sindragosa Encounter

We have made some progress on the path to the Lich King. My guild, Death’s Advocate on the Tanaris realm, is now battling Sindragosa, the final boss before old LK himself.

Sindragosa is a skeletal dragon like Chillmaw only slightly bigger. She has Frost Breath and Cleave in the front and a tail swipe in the rear, so everyone except the main tank must stand to her side.

Phase 1
During phase one she alternates between a ground phase and an air phase. The ground phase includes a raid-wide area affect called Frost Aura that causes 4,500 frost damage to ‘nearby targets’ every 3 seconds. Then she will use Icy Grip to pull everyone in to her. Immediately afterwards she will perform a Blistering Cold spell from which you must run. So if you get pulled in, be sure to run back out very quickly or suffer up to 35,000 points of damage. Also during the ground phase, she will pick one healer and one ranged dps and put an arcane malediction on them called Unchained Magic. While this de-buff is active, each time the caster uses a spell, an additional de-buff called Instability will be applied. When Instability stacks to about 4 or 5 applications, it is advised to stop casting for 5 secs to allow it to fall off. At which time the caster will take around 2000 points of damage per stack. Instability will start stacking again if Unchained Magic is still active (30 seconds). (There is another de-buff called Permeating Chill that affects melee targets in a similar manner. See wowwiki.com)
During the phase one air phase Sindragosa will fly up and mark two random people with Frost Beacon, a blue arrow over their heads. These two people will become frozen Ice Tombs and anyone who is within 10 yards of them will also become frozen and take damage. The two with marks should position themselves at the bottom of the stairs 10 yards away from each other. Then when the turn to ice blocks everyone else should hide behind them to avoid getting hit by the Frost Bombs that Sindragosa first at random places on the ground. You must place yourself so that the Ice Tomb is exactly between yourself and the spot on the ground where the Frost Bomb will land. The Ice Tombs must be beaten down to remove the two entombed party members. They have 450,000 hit points so they must be taken down quickly, but not before Sindragosa has landed her fourth Frost Bomb.
Phase 2
The ground phase and air phase alternate until Sindragosa reaches 35% health. At this point she becomes permanently grounded and all previous abilities continue including freezing random raid members. An additional ability is added to this phase is Mystic Buffet which stacks with itself every 6 seconds and increases damage done by 10% per stack. This de-buff can be removed by hiding from Sindragosa behind a Frozen Tomb until the de-buff falls off.
My group has been able to get to Phase 2 consistently, but we haven’t been able to finish her off. I think we will need to get to phase 2 faster than we have been. I’ve read that you should have her to phase 2 before she goes into air phase a third time. We are very close to that, so I hope to be on to the Lich King encounter by this time next week.

The Raid - The Movie

"You know that day-dream you had as a little kid? The one where you and your friends got together to battle the evil dragon? Well, these guys are kind of doing that. Every night." -- The Raid - Kickstarter Page

The Pitch - From Kevin Michael Johnson (project leader)

Most people think of video gaming as a childish waste of time. Then when you add magic, dragons and questing, the terms nerd or geek get thrown around.

Well this Kickstarter project intends to show just how serious the online gaming community can be. Some people spend much of their time at conventional hobbies such as knitting, bowling or watching T.V. while others prefer to meet with like minded individuals on line and collaborate to achieve victory over difficult dungeon raiding scenarios.

Interview with Fame, Darksend and Ttocs - Documentary example clips.

They are hoping to eventually make a full length feature movie, but the project at Kickstarter is to raise enough money to make a professional demo or trailer in order to promote the idea to the big hitters and get real funding for the movie.

Visit the Kickstarter page for The Raid and donate if you can. I'm pledging $50. With projects listed in Kickstarter, the money is not collected until the goal has been met.

Blood and Thunder!

Click on stuff ... make me dance. LOLZ

Bravo blizz for this script!

Greetings Traveler!

I've been expecting you.
This blog will be dedicated to the World of Warcraft online role playing game, and my character's progress and achievements within that world.

I am a Tauren druid on the Tanaris realm. Tauren are like Cows and Bulls that walk upright, and have the ability to stomp the ground so hard that everyone close by will be dazed. They are mostly a peaceful race that honors nature through respect for the Earth Mother.

As a druid, I am especially in tune with nature, and call upon the forces such as wind, roots, lightning, and insects, during combat to best my enemies.

During my early days I spent time hunting in Mulgore, and doing mundane favors for various leaders in my home town of Thunder Bluff. I joined up with a guild named, “The Horde Confederacy” which served me well as I progressed in levels and into the other lands. As do most others, I made my progress in the Barrens, then headed south to Thousand Needles, and overseas to the Eastern Kingdoms where I battled all the wild creatures in Stranglethorn Vale. There was a time between level 30 and 50 that it seemed I did more traveling than I did battling monsters. I went to Feralas, Felwood, Winterspring, Moonglade, Silithus, Plaguelands and more.

I was reaching level 58 back when the first expansion, "The Burning Crusade", came out. Therefore, I never did get to play the level 60 raid instances. I went straight to Outlands where I eventually raided Karazhan with the Synergy guild. We did Gru'ul's Lair, and Black Temple, and then the guild evaporated until the next expansion, "Wrath of the Lich King". Synergy raided Naxxaramus, and started in on Ulduar, but the guild fell apart as they sometimes do.

Now I’m in an outstanding guild called, “Deaths Advocate”. We are battling our way towards defeating the Lich King. At the time of this writing, we have entered into the Icecrown Citadel and taken out Lord Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, Professor Putricide and the Blood Prince Council. We are currently trying to defeat the Blood-Queen Lana’thel. I plan on documenting our progress on this blog as time allows.

I specialize in healing and have finely tuned my armor and weapons to maximize my health restoring efforts. However, during times when not raiding, I take the form of the great owl beast to improve the damage I can do to the bad guys.

Recently, I have obtained the title of "Elder Rusko", which is fitting as I am a bit older than the average player. I'm glad to have achieved that title so I can quit using my previous title, "Rusko the Love Fool", which was associated with the Love is in the Air seasonal event.
Other titles I claim include, Crusader, Champion of the Frozen Wastes, Ambassador, Explorer, and a few others.

More to come…

May the eternal sun shine upon thee!
